A mobile terminal having astronomical information output function and a heavenly body information output method are provided to enable a user to receive astronomical information of the sky located in a direction in which a terminal is oriented while simultaneously using an operation recognition module and a direction recognition module, thereby quickly and accurately measuring a terminal orientation direction. A memory unit(150) stores astronomical information. An information obtainer(145) obtains location information of a terminal, direction information which includes altitude and a direction in which the terminal is oriented, and time information. An information processor(147) outputs astronomical information corresponding to the location information, the direction information, and the time information. According to more than one change of the location information, the direction information, and the time information, the information processor updates the astronomical information to output the updated information.
