<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device having a plurality of operation modes capable of reducing the downtimes and consumption of disposables, as compared with the technology in which the adjustments of the density and the gradation are executed for by different operation modes. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming device detects the density of a test image formed on an image carrier, and adjusts the parameters related to the density and gradation based on the detected density.
