<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliability-light emitting device where the deterioration of a support body is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device is provided with a light emitting element, and a support body provided with a recess that accommodates the light emitting element and having a lead electrode that is connected to the light emitting element. The light emitting element is disposed at the bottom of the recess so as to allow the longitudinal direction and short direction to be each along the longitudinal direction and short direction of the bottom of the recess. The electrode of the light emitting element is connected to an exposed lead electrode through a conductive wire in the longitudinal direction of the bottom of the recess. The light emitting element is provided with a semiconductor laminated structure having a light emitting layer between an n-side contact layer consisting of a semiconductor having an n-side electrode and a p-side contact layer consisting of a semiconductor having a p-side electrode, the n-side contact layer is composed of a first region where the semiconductor laminated structure having the p-side electrode is provided and a second region having a plurality of the convex parts as viewed from an electrode formation surface side, and the peak of the convex part is positioned on the p-side contact layer side closer to the light emitting layer in the cross-section of the light emitting element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
