PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aliphatic primary amine in high selectivity from an aliphatic alcohol. SOLUTION: The method for producing the aliphatic amine comprises bringing a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic alcohol having straight chain, branch or ring into contact with ammonia and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst containing (A) each component of nickel, copper and zirconium and (B) at least one kind of metal component selected from elements of the group III of the periodic table and elements of the group V of the periodic table and elements of the platinum group.
