PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a video image from being discontinuous before and after switching a reproduction mode. SOLUTION: A memory 5 of this stream video image decoding device stores stream video image data to be supplied to a decoder 23 in a unit including a plurality of pieces of frame image data. A storage position specifying means 24 specifies the position at which the plurality of pieces of frame image data to be stored in the memory 5. A start position specifying means 23 specifies the first frame image data to be decoded first by the decoder in a reproduction mode after switching on the basis of the comparison of the storage position of the last decoded frame image data in the reproduction mode before switching with the storage position of the plurality of pieces of frame image data specified by the storage position specifying means 24 when the reproduction mode of a stream video image is switched.
