PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection and travel direction measuring device for a moving body, and a sheet for it, using a cord switch which can precisely perform position detection and travel direction measurement by inexpensive hardware. SOLUTION: The device extends and installs in a plane which the moving body 2 moves. The device comprises a sheet 4, which is attached with a plurality of cord switches 3 which are made and arranged to cross in the horizontal and vertical directions, a switch detection circuit 5 which detects ON/OFF of each cord switch 3, a position detecting part 6 which detects the position of the moving body 2 within the sheet 4 from the combination of the cord switch 3 in direction, when the cord switch is turned ON, a direction measuring part 7 which measures the moving direction of the moving body 2 from the temporal changes of the position by time of the moving body 2.
