PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label printer capable of winding an ink ribbon at an optimum winding speed according to the winding condition of the ink ribbon and reducing tight winding to prevent occurrence of inferior printing. SOLUTION: In order to make the ink ribbon 4 winding speed around a ribbon winding shaft 7 and printing speed substantially the same, based on the printing speed and actually measured rotation speed, a rotation speed table for deciding the rotation speed of a ribbon winding motor 10 is corrected according to the ink ribbon 4 winding condition, and the rotation speed of the ribbon winding motor 10 is decided with the corrected rotation speed table, controlling the rotation speed of the ribbon winding motor 10 according to the winding condition of the ink ribbon 4.
