PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer which can unerringly form images irrespectively of the kind and thickness of recording media loaded. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer has a medium kind detection means to judge the kind of recording mediums loaded into a loading section, and a medium thickness detection means to detect the thickness of the recording mediums loaded in the loading section, and sets an appropriate adsorption force for each recording medium in accordance with the result of detection by the means, and changes the force by which the adsorption means adsorbs the recording mediums.
