PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for estimating subcutaneous fat accumulation information by which the subcutaneous fat accumulation information can be estimated correctly and simply. SOLUTION: A horizontal reference position securing means (a horizontal ruler 1 and a horizontal projecting part 2) secures a horizontal face passing through the top in the vertical direction of the abdominal section in the case of lying on one's back, and an inter-top vertical distance measuring means (a vertical ruler 3 and an inter-top vertical distance input part) measures an inter-top vertical distance vertically combining from the secured horizontal face to the tops in the horizontal direction of the abdominal section in the case of lying on one's back. Then, a subcutaneous fat accumulation information estimation means (a correlation storage part and a subcutaneous fat accumulation information arithmetic part) estimate the subcutaneous fat accumulation information corresponding to the measured inter-top vertical distance based on the correlation between the inter-top vertical distance and the subcutaneous fat accumulation information, and a subcutaneous fat accumulation information output means (a subcutaneous fat accumulation information display part 5) outputs the estimated subcutaneous fat accumulation information.
