Metallurgical oven wall repair using a ground - refractory material pitch mixture

Refractory inner walls of a metallurgical oven are repair by preparing a mortar consisting of a mixture of a finely divided refractory mass and ground tar pitch, and spraying this mixture against the oven wall while it is at a temp of at least 800 degrees C. The refractory mass is pref. dolomite. The method is especially useful for repairing steel oven walls.
