<p>An apparatus (104a) includes a programmable logic controller (204) capable of receiving input data from and/or providing output data to at least one device in a process control system (100). The programmable logic controller (204) is also capable of executing compiled code. The apparatus (104a) also includes a memory (208) capable of storing source code corresponding to the compiled code. In addition, the apparatus (104a) includes a processor (206) capable of storing the source code in the memory (208). The apparatus (104a) may further include a wireless radio (202) capable of communicating over a wireless network. In particular embodiments, the programmable logic controller (204) and the processor (206) may form a single functional unit.
