<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the deterioration of a fixing means and also to surely peel a printing medium from the fixing means. <P>SOLUTION: When the number of dots D in the leading edge area of paper P is larger than the allowable number of dots Dth in fixing (S110), a separation pawl is brought into contact with a heat roller when contact start timing T comes (S114). Thus, the leading edge of the paper P is easily peeled from the heat roller by the separation pawl. Meanwhile, after the leading edge of the paper P is peeled from the heat roller (S116), the separation pawl is separated from the heat roller (S118). Thus, the separation pawl is prevented from wearing or damaging the heat roller. By bringing the separation pawl into contact with the heat roller only when judging it as necessary based on printing data, the paper P is surely peeled from the heat roller while restraining the deterioration of the heat roller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
