<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card connector in which a card with a brim can be extracted from the slot of the card connector without being caught by the brim of the card with an lower end of a shutter for protecting dust of the slot, after the card with the brim is inserted into the slot in the upside-down state by mistake. <P>SOLUTION: The card connector 1 includes a slot 10 for receiving the card 201 comprising an under surface whose front end excluding regions extending from both side edges by predetermined dimensions has the brim 202. A cutout 34 is formed in the lower end region of the shutter 30 for protecting dust, wherein the region is longer than the brim 202 and both sides 33a and 33b are excluded from the region. An end of at least one of both sides 33a and 33b contacts to the upward surface of the card 201 inserted in the slot 10.
