PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system in which a telephone conversation route can be formed more appropriately depending on the telephone number of a destination side telephone, and to provide a VoIP adapter. SOLUTION: The communication system for forming a telephone conversation route through a third netwok between a first telephone which can be connected with a first network through a first VoIP adapter and a second telephone, i.e. a subscriber terminal of a second network which can be connected with a second network through a second VoIP adapter comprises a first VoIP adapter for connecting the first telephone with the third network upon detecting a call from the first telephone to the second telephone, a second VoIP adapter for connecting the second telephone with the third network, and a call information providing means for making the first VoIP adapter acquire the connection information of the first and second VoIP adapters with the third network when calling processing is performed.
