PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate luminance unevenness of the liquid crystal panel located further distant away from the light source, relating particularly in a liquid crystal display device of which liquid crystal panels are arranged to be relatively shifted so that one part of a photodetection surface of each liquid panel irradiated with light from a back light overlaps with the part of the other. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has the first liquid crystal panel 20 and the second liquid crystal panel 30 arranged on both surfaces of a light guide plate 11 which the side-light type back light 10 is equipped with, and also has the liquid crystal panels relatively shifted such that a part 21a of the photodetection surface 21 of the first liquid crystal panel 20 and a part 31a of the photodetection surface of the second liquid crystal panel 30 overlap each other. Also, the liquid crystal display device is provided with a lining material 45a which has light absorption characteristics on the side of a reflected light projection surface of the light guide plate 11 which faces the photodetection surface of the liquid crystal panel 30 arranged at a further distance away from the light source other than the part 31a.
