PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure highly accurately the intensity of cooking smell generated at a cooking time of food. SOLUTION: Combustible gas generated at the cooking time and standard smell gases to the number of n (n is an integer of 2 or higher) are measured respectively by using oxide semiconductor type smell sensors to the number of m (m is an integer of 2 or higher), and each measurement result of the standard gases is corrected based on a measurement result of the combustible gas. Corrected standard smell vectors to the number of n are formed in an m-dimensional smell space formed by each measurement result from the smell sensors to the number of m based on each corrected measurement result of the standard gases, and a relation between a smell vector expressed by the measurement result of the cooking smell and the corrected standard smell vectors is operated by an operation means, to thereby calculate the intensity of the cooking smell.
