PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To show that VBI (Vertical Blanking Interval) data superimposed upon VBI of a television video signal is surely extracted, to eliminate mistrust of a user as to whether VBI data is received and to reduce labor and time required to check whether a data broadcast receiver acquires the VBI data. SOLUTION: A time for starting to extract the VBI data is stored (S11), the power is supplied to the data broadcast receiver before the arrival of the time for starting to extract the VBI data (S12), primary display showing that the power has been supplied to the data broadcast receiver in order to extract the VBI data is performed (S13), starting processing of the data broadcast receiver is performed (S14), and secondary display showing that the starting processing ends is performed (S15).
