PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving control method of a semiconductor laser which can generate a short optical pulse with a preferable waveform. SOLUTION: A laser driving current including a pulse component and a DC bias current which have a predetermined repeating frequency is output to a semiconductor laser. In this way, an output beam of an optical pulse to be output from the semiconductor laser is monitored, and the magnitude of the DC bias current is set so that a value obtained by dividing an output quantity based on the output of the monitor by the repeating frequency may be a predetermined value.
