PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for improving the barrier function of the skin itself. SOLUTION: It has been found that an epidermal kelatinocyte layer membrane enabling the simple evaluation of a skin barrier function is obtained by culturing epidermal kelatinocytes on a fine pore-having support in a low calcium condition, until becoming confluent, and then culturing the product in a high calcium condition liquid culture medium. An extract of the pericarp (peels) of Seville orange in Citrus is applied to the method, and it has consequently been found that the barrier function of the epidermal kelatinocyte layer membrane is improved. The extract has been added to an external preparation for skins to simply obtain the external preparation for the skins, which can improve the barrier functions of the skins themselves.
