PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid matter extracting apparatus capable of separating a solid matter 1 from a solid matter 1-containing liquid 2 simply and economically by using a liquid sending pump 17 and controlling opening and closing a plurality of switch valves. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a first to a fourth pipes 15, 18, 19, and 20, a plurality of switch valves 24 to 29 installed in the respective pipes, and a liquid sending pump 17. A control apparatus 30 opens the switch valves 24, 25, and 26 and at the same time operates the liquid sending pump 17 to fill the inside of the first pipe 15 with a liquid 2. Next, the switch valve 26 is closed and the switch valve 28 is opened and successively a solid matter 1-containing liquid 2 in a storage tank 3 is supplied to separation means 6 by passing the liquid from the first pipe 15 to the third pipe 19 based on the siphon principle and there separated into the solid matter 1 and the liquid 2.
