The controller has a gearshift lever (20) accommodated on a gearshift lever shaft (18), where position of the gearshift lever is detected by a sensor (24). The lever shaft extends into a detection opening (48) of the controller. The opening is formed in a base plate (16) of the controller, and the sensor is arranged at a sensor carrier (25), which is arranged on an upper side of the base plate. An end of the shaft plunges with the shaft into the opening and is connected with a rotor (26) through a positive connection.
