A device (100) for applying a hair coloring product to a lock of scalp hair includes a pair of gripping members (105, 120). Each gripping member comprises a free end (102, 104) including inner faces (115, 120), outer faces (125, 130), and a plurality of fibers (135, 137) extending from the inner face. The pluralities of fibers are configured to be loaded with the hair coloring product, and the device is configured so that application of a pressing force to at least one of the gripping members moves at least one of the inner faces toward the other inner face so as to enable application of the hair coloring product to a lock of hair positioned between the inner faces.
