<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element capable of having its viewing angle controlled, and to provide a viewing angle control method. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the liquid crystal display element, as a liquid crystal display element of a vertical alignment (VA) type, which is characterized in having a sub-pixel as a display element and a tilt control means for liquid crystal molecules for electric field above a part other than a sub-pixel, which is other than at least one display element or a part in the sub-pixel, as a display element other than the sub-pixel; and a color filter. The tilt control means for liquid crystal molecules for the electric field has a rib-shaped structure. An rib-shaped structure, formed at the part at the part other than the sub-pixel other than at least the one display element or the part in the sub-pixel as the display element other than the display element, is made to be angled with respect to the arrangement of a rib-shaped structure, formed at the sub-pixel as the display element in the length direction of the rib-shaped structures. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
