<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil for an internal combustion engine, in which a large current can be applied to a primary coil. <P>SOLUTION: A first power switch and a second power switch connected to each other in parallel are connected to the primary coil in series. By connecting the first power switch to the second power switch in parallel, a current exceeding the limit of each power switch can be applied. A first current detecting means detects a current flowing to the first power switch. A second current detecting means detects a current flowing to the second power switch. A current threshold value memory means previously stores as an admissible threshold value a difference between the current values detected by the first current detecting means and the second current detecting means. A first comparison and judgement means judges whether or not the current value detected by each of the first current detecting means and the second current detecting means exceeds the threshold value stored in the current threshold value memory means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
