<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubbed string instrument silencer which can safely be used without damaging the musical instrument, can easily be attached to and detached from the musical instrument, enables a user to view a contact point between a bow and a string well, and enables the user to practice anytime and anywhere with a good sound without bothering other persons. <P>SOLUTION: The rubbed string instrument silencer is composed of one silencing member which can come into contact with one surface of a bridge stood on a top plate of a musical instrument body to tense strings and the other silencing member which can come into contact with the other surface of the bridge. The one and the other silencing members each include a plate-shaped magnet and a buffer member which covers at least a peripheral edge of the plate-shaped magnet and absorbs vibrations of the bridge, and the one and the other silencing members are fitted to the bridge with an attracting force operating between a plate-shaped magnet of the one silencing member and a plate-shaped magnet of the other silencing member and/or a plate-shaped ferromagnetic body.
