PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of automatically adjusting the level of a common voltage at a point of time positive polarity gradation voltage and negative polarity gradation voltage to be supplied to a liquid crystal panel decrease, and a driving method therefor. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: the liquid crystal display panel in which a plurality gate lines and a plurality of data lines are formed; a gate driving part for supplying a gate pulse to the plurality of gate lines; a data driving part for supplying the positive polarity gradation voltage and the negative polarity gradation voltage to the plurality of data lines; a timing controller for controlling the common voltage level to be supplied to the liquid crystal display panel according to the point of time of supplying the gate pulse; and first and second common voltage generation parts and a switch for alternately supplying the first and second common voltages to be the reference of segments of the positive polarity gradation voltage and the negative polarity gradation voltage by control of the timing controller.
