PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washstand which prevents the frequent clogging of a drain passage, and reduces the frequency of work of removing hair and trash caught by a hair catcher. SOLUTION: The washstand 30 equipped with a shower unit 13 for hair washing includes an auxiliary drain passage 34 annexed to a main drain passage 33 extending down from a drain outlet 32 opening at the bottom of a washing bowl 31, which auxiliary drain passage 34 can be switched to the main drain passage 33. The auxiliary drain passage 34 has a widened sectional portion provided by a drain chamber 37 having an enlarged opening area, and the hair catcher 38 is so attached removably as to traverse the widened sectional portion. The auxiliary drain passage 34 branches out from the main drain passage 33 under the drain outlet 32, where a branch portion 35 leading to the auxiliary drain passage 34 is provided with a switchover valve 36 which makes switchover between the main drain passage 33 and the auxiliary drain passage 34.
