PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna system capable of efficiently determining an optimum receiving direction of an antenna, and a television receiver provided with the antenna system. SOLUTION: The television receiver is provided with a CPU 201 for executing a switch program 2031 sequentially switching the directivity of the antenna 11 at initialization, the CPU 201 executing a judgement program 2032 for judging whether a TV broadcast signal is received each time the directivity of the antenna 11 is switched, the CPU 201 executing a determination program 2033 for determining that the direction of the directivity of the antenna 11 when it is determined that the TV broadcast signal is received as an optimum receiving direction corresponding to a corresponding channel, and a table for the number of determining times data 192, wherein the receiving direction determined as the optimum receiving direction and the number of determining times when the receiving direction is determined as the optimum receiving direction are stored while they are associated with each other, and is configured so as to switch directivities of the antenna 11 in order of a receiving direction of the largest number of determining times.
