PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector improving transmission characteristics by maintaining in good balance physical distance between ground contacts and the pair of signal contacts at the time of mounting on a substrate. SOLUTION: The engagement portion 11 has one piece of ground contact G and two pieces of signal contacts (differential signal pair) S arranged continuously in a row. The substrate connection portion 12 has each ground contact arranged at the center row of the three rows and each signal contact (differential pair) is arranged adjoining other two rows. In this arrangement, the right-hand side S<SB>1</SB>of each one pair of signal contacts arranged in one row interposing the center row is opposed to the left-hand side S<SB>2</SB>of each one pair of signal contacts arranged in the other row interposing each ground contact.
