The method involves determining a position of a chip (3) of a radio frequency identification transponder (1) in a matching network (2) of an antenna based on the determined measured-and simulation values, and arranging and contacting the chip with a predetermined orientation on the matching network. The impedance of the chip is detected, and coordinates of the chip in the plane of the antenna of the transponder is varied for rough matching. The changing of position and/or the orientation of the chip in the plane of the antenna is performed for fine matching. An independent claim is also included for an antenna structure for a radio frequency identification transponder.
