A latch mechanism for mounting a vehicle seat

A latch mechanism 22 for detachably mounting a vehicle seat 10 to a vehicle includes a mounting plate 20 and a latch 32 rotatable thereon about a first axis 62 to engage a seat base pin 28. A pawl 34 and a cam 36 are both rotatable on the mounting plate about a second axis 80 to inhibit rotation of the latch 32. The pawl 34 engages the latch 32 (formations 66 and 86) before the cam 36 engages the latch 32 (formations 68 and 92). The pawl 34 and cam 36 are disengaged from the latch 32 by the action of an actuator 46 which acts directly on the pawl and indirectly on the cam through pin 84 and slot 90 formations. Springs 38 and 40 bias the pawl and cam to the latch-engaging positions.
