<p>Material is introduced to a vertical tube with three zones. First, uppermost zone acts as preheater, second as calcining zone and third as cooler. Temp. profile along tube is trapezoidal, and second zone is electrically heated. Air, or a suitable gas for process, is countercurrent to material through the tube, and acts as coolant in third zone and preheats material in first zone. Used to calcine particulate material, esp. spheroidal particles of U, Th, Pu salts or hydroxides.</p> |
