1,218,664. Photographic processing. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORP. July 25, 1968 [July 25, 1967], No. 35630/ 68. Heading G2A. A pod 31 of photographic processing liquid is ruptured and its contents spread between a pair of image transfer sheets 40, 41 by pulling the sheets through the narrow gap between two spreader members 14, 15. The upper member 15 has a rearwardly extending guide portion 21, and the lower member 14 has a rearwardly extending guide portion formed of a guide platform 16 which has a relieved part 25 just before the gap, which helps to control the flow of the liquid. The part 25 is formed by making a U-shaped cut in the platform 16, and bending down the cut-out part to form a tongue 29. The members 14, 15 themselves are mounted on a pair of U-shaped springs, as at 11 see also Fig. 2 (not shown), so that they are resiliently biased towards each other. As the pod 31 is squeezed between members 14, 15, it is distended just prior to being ruptured, and this could force the members 14, 15 momentarily farther apart. Since the width of this gap is quite critical, this could upset the proper functioning of the device. The provision of the relieved portion allows the momentarily distended pod to occupy this space, and so prevents undesirable widening of the gap. |
