DELTA3,5-7alpha-methyl oestradienes of the general formula (I). where R1 = hydroxy, ester or ether. R2 = hydrogen, saturated or unsaturated, unsubstituted or halogenated aliphatic group, or R1 and R2 together represent an oxo group. The ester group may be derived from organic carboxylic acids of the aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic or heterocyclic series. The compounds have an oestrogenic, antigonadotropic, antiovulatory activity and are useful intermediates for the preparation of other active materials. |
