A junction piece 30 overlaps or underlaps the oblique edges 26 of two tapered roofing sheets 14 that meet at a junction where the longitudinal ribs 20 of the roofing sheets 14 are not parallel. Angled ribs 36 on each side of a longitudinal axis of the junction piece 30 engage the longitudinal ribs 20 of the roofing sheets. As a result, the tapered roofing sheets 14 do not need to be custom vacuum-formed with an oblique rib but can be simply cut from straight, extruded sheets. The junction piece 30 can accommodate junctions of roofing sheets 14 that are mutually inclined to form a hip or a valley. The junction piece 30 may be formed in two parts that can slide relative to one another along the longitudinal axis to accommodate different alignments of the longitudinal ribs 20 on the respective roofing sheets 14. |
