A handover method in a mobile communication system is provided to minimize a loss of network resources. A UE(User Equipment) sends a measurement report to a SeNB(Serving eNode B)(S400). Based on at least one among the measurement report information, the load information of each eNode B, and the resource availability information of each eNode B, the SeNB judges whether the UE should move to a new TeNB(Target eNode B). The SeNB sends a handover ready request message to the TeNB through an Xur interface between the SeNB and the TeNB(S420). Also the SeNB sends a handover preparation request message to an AG(Access Gateway) through an Xu interface between the SeNB and the AG(S425). The AG, receiving the handover preparation request message, executes handover preparation procedures(S430). Receiving the handover ready request message, the TeNB allocates radio/network resources for user traffic transmission using the UE context information or eNB status information contained in the received message(S440). Then the TeNB sends a handover ready response message to the SeNB through the Xur interface(S450). The TeNB sends a path update request message to the AG through the Xu interface(S455). The AG, in response to the path update request message, releases the path between the AG and the SeNB and establishes a new path to the TeNB(S460). Completing the internal preparation procedures, the SeNB directs the UE to execute handover procedures(S470). |
