A gap is provided with a magnetic layer that exhibits a controllable relative permeability. The magnitude of secondary voltage vector is controlled by controlling the permeability of the magnetic layer. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) phase angle and voltage controlling method; and (2) use of power-flow control device.
