Provided is an electrochemical device, which promptly responds to an increase in the internal temperature thereof, interrupts electric current by increasing electric resistance, and thus shows improved safety. The electrochemical device includes an electrode comprising electrode active material particles, conductive agent particles and wax, wherein the electrode active material particles are interconnected with each other by a network formed by the conductive agent particles, and the paths of the conductive agent particles interconnecting the electrode active material particles are partially or totally fixed by the wax. The wax includes polyolefin wax having a melt viscosity of 10-1000 mPa.s and a particle size of 20 micrometers or less.
