A wagon retarder contains driving sections, intermediate supports, which are in pairs united into the intermediate sections and are connected with stiffeners with adjacent driving sections, bases, brake beams with brake tires, which are successively fixed on both sides of rail on the levers, which are hingedly mounted on said bases, and also the mechanisms of balancing located in the separate housings and hingedly connected with levers and bases of driving sections. The levers of driving sections are connected by cylinders, which interact at their opening with the limiters made as loops from elastic flexible element, in this case each loop is fixed on the levers with possibility of changing its length.
