An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel is provided to prevent abrupt current flow by implementing a current control element between a switching element, which controls connection between an electrode line and a ground, and the ground. An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel includes a switching element(S2), a first current control element(B52), a switch driving element(D5), and a second current control element(B51). The switching element is connected between at least one of plural electrodes in the plasma display panel and a ground, and controls connection between the electrode and the ground. The first current control element is connected between the switching element and the ground, and controls a current flowing from the electrode to the ground. The switch driving element drives the switching element. The second current control element is connected between the switch driving element and the ground, and controls a current flowing from the switch driving element to the ground.
