A roof for a motor vehicle is provided to allow a control lever to be applied to a roof element performable during a forward longitudinal displacement and a roof element performable in a rearward pivot movement. A roof for a motor vehicle includes a body including at least one rearward roof element(8) and a forward roof element(7) in a roof region. The roof is formed so as to displacement at least the forward roof element and cooperates with at least one control lever(15). The forward roof element is displacement longitudinally according to the type of a sunroof and cooperates with the rearward roof element through the control of the control lever during a longitudinal displacement. The control lever is compulsorily controlled during an opening displacement of the forward roof element to lower the rearward roof element and lifts the rear roof element during a closing displacement of the front roof element.
