A display element and a display device are provided to install two or more domains with the different directions when the electric field is applied or not to each pixel. A display device(60) includes a display element(70) having pixels(71) arranged with a matrix shape. The display device also includes a source driver(61), a gate driver(62) and a power circuit(63) and the like. Plural data signal lines(SL1~SL4) and plural scan signal lines(GL1~GL3) crossed with the plural data signal lines are installed to the display element. A pixel is installed at each combination of the data and scan signal lines. The power circuit supplies the source and gate drivers so that the image is displayed to the display element. The source driver drives the data signal lines of the display element. The gate driver drives the scan signal lines of the display element. A switching device is installed at each pixel.
