A receipt issuing apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to conveniently issue a receipt through a proximity sensor and to smoothly discharge a thermosensitive recording paper to an outer discharge port of a case. In a receipt issuing apparatus(20), a body case(21) has a discharge port(21b) at one side. A cover case(22) is detachably combined with the body case. A thermosensitive recording paper roll containing unit(24) is installed in the body case to detachably store a thermosensitive recording paper roll(23). A printer unit(27) has a thermal printer head(25) and a feeding unit(26) electrically connected with a control unit of an outer device. A feeding presenter(40) is disposed in the discharge port and controlled by the control unit of the outer device to forcibly transfer a thermosensitive recording paper(23a) delivered from the printer unit, toward the discharge port. A cutting unit(28) is interposed between the printer unit and the feeding presenter and controlled by the control unit of the outer device to cut a rear end of the thermosensitive recording paper before the printed thermosensitive recording paper is pulled to the outside from the discharge port by hands of drivers or customers. A proximity sensor(29) is installed at one of the body case and the cover case and at least a portion of the proximity sensor is exposed to the outside.
