A method and an apparatus for driving a display panel is provided to reduce EMI(Electro Magnetic Interference) radiation amounts by adjusting the rising slope of an address voltage according to a line load rate. An apparatus for driving a display panel includes a display panel, a load rate calculation unit(26), and a slope adjusting unit(27). The display panel includes discharge cells formed by X, Y, and address electrodes, and drives the discharge cells by applying scan and data signals during reset, address, and sustain periods for every sub-field. The load rate calculation unit calculates a load rate, that is, the ratio of discharge cells generating a display discharge in the discharge cells. The slope adjusting unit adjusts a rising slope, which rises from a first level to a second level, according to the load rate.
