A method of removal of oxygen or carbon-containing components from gas mixtures by conducting reactions of oxidation of hydrocarbons or CO by oxygen in flowing adiabatic reactor with use of metallic catalysts from Pt either Pd or Ir, or Pt-Rh-alloy, in this case gas mixture is passed through the catalyst, which is preliminarily heated by transmission through it of electric current.
