PURPOSE: An apparatus for saving a power in a mobile communication terminal is provided to prevent unnecessary power waste by automatically turning off a display power during a voice telephone conversation. CONSTITUTION: An infrared luminescent unit(100) generates a specific frequency for discriminating whether a user performs the telephone conversation. An infrared light-receiving unit(300) detects a reflected infrared signal and amplifies the detected infrared signal at a certain level. A signal comparing unit(400) compares the signal output from the infrared light-receiving unit(300) with a reference signal, and outputs the result signal. A microprocessor(500) retrieves the output signal of the signal comparing unit(400), judges whether the user performs the telephone conversation, and generates a control signal for turning off a power associated with a display when the user performs the telephone conversation. An LCD driving power control unit(600) corresponds to the control signal output from the microprocessor(500) and turns off an LCD driving power. A backlight driving power control unit(700) corresponds to the control signal output from the microprocessor(500) and turns off an LCD backlight power. |
