A backlight module of a flat panel display device is provided to enhance the distribution of light from the inside of a light guide panel or the light guide panel. A light guide panel(52) has at least a groove(62). At least one pole type optical device(56) includes a complete reflection surface. The first side surface is located adjacent to the complete reflection surface. A bottom surface(561) is located adjacent to the first side surface. The first side surface and the complete reflection surface are located adjacent to the side wall of the groove. The complete reflection surface is a curved surface. The optical device also includes the second side surface adjacent to the complete reflection surface and the bottom surface. The second surface is a plane and formed in parallel to the firs side surface.
