A piston valve of a shock absorber is provided to remarkably reduce or restrain distribution of a damping force generated when a piston body and a rebound retainer are assembled in different directions. A piston valve of a shock absorber includes a compression passage and a rebound passage. A piston body(22) and a rebound retainer(24) are assembled on an upper portion and a lower portion of the piston valve. The piston body and the rebound retainer include a plurality of rebound holes respectively. The piston valve includes seat surfaces(224,244,226,246) and embossed and depressed portions(225,245). The seat surfaces are formed on the bottom surface of the piston body and the upper surface of the rebound retainer and make contact with each other to communicate the rebound holes. The embossed and depressed portions correspond to the seat surface making contact with each other and are pressed-fitted to each other.
