A method for detecting a coordinate defection of a flat panel display is provided to improve productivity and reliability of a product by calculating an accurate coordinate defect to rapidly and accurately repair the coordinate defect. A method for detecting a coordinate defect of a flat panel display includes the steps of calculating a coordinate of four dots of a correction pattern for a rectangular corner formed on an FPD(Flat Panel Display) by using a pattern generator, calculating the coordinates of the four dot images and a defection image by photographing the FPD with an image pattern, calculating ratio in horizontal and vertical directions of the defection for the coordinate of an image of the correction pattern using calculated coordinates of the four dot images and the defection image, and calculating the coordinate defect formed on the FPD by a vector operation using the ratio in horizontal and vertical directions of the defect and the coordinates of the four dots of the image pattern on the FPD.
