A plasma display panel is provided to reduce power consumption and obtain high light emitting efficiency by improving a structure thereof. A front substrate(201) and a rear substrate(211) are attached to each other at a constant interval. A plurality of barrier ribs(212) are formed between the front substrate and the rear substrate in order to discriminate a discharge space and a non-discharge space of discharge cells from each other. A black layer(206) is formed to shield the non-discharge space. When an area of the discharge space of the discharge cells is divided by an entire area of the discharge cells, an obtained value is equal to or more than 0.45 and is equal to or less than 0.59.
